Keith Harper of Grove Oak caught four bass weighing 22 pounds Saturday and claimed a share of first place in an FLW Bass Fishing League Choo Choo Division tournament on Lake Guntersville. Harper claimed $4,400.

The Estonian shrimp fishing vessel, the Ontika, remains tied up in Harbour Grace as Canadian NAFO officers conclude a voluntary inspection. According to a DFO spokesperson, Estonian officials instructed the ship to make port after NAFO officers issued a citation at sea.

These hardy souls were among many adventurous and bundled up men and women ice fishing last Sunday on Greenwood Lake. Word among some sportsmen was that the fish were not biting as well this year as in past years. That could be a fish tale, of course.
